چکیده

A smoothed particle hydrodynamics approach is utilized to model a non-Newtonian fluid with a spatially varying viscosity. In the limit of constant viscosity, this approach recovers an earlier model for Newtonian fluids of Español and Revenga (Phys Rev E 67:026705, 2003). Results are compared with numerical solutions of the general Navier–Strokes equation using the “regularized” Bingham model of Papanastasiou (J Rheol 31:385–404, 1987) that has a shear-ratedependent viscosity. As an application of this model, the effect of having a non-Newtonian fluid matrix, with a shear-rate-dependent viscosity in a moderately dense suspension, is examined. Simulation results are then compared with experiments on mono-size silica spheres in a shear-thinning fluid and for sand in a calcium carbonate paste. Excellent agreement is found between simulation and experiment. These results indicate that measurements of the shear viscosity of simple shearrate-dependent non-Newtonian fluids may be used in simulation to predict the viscosity of concentrated suspensions having the same matrix fluid. PERFORMANCE MODEL AND ANALYSIS OF BLOOD FLOW IN SMALL VESSELS WITH MAGNETIC EFFECTS

In this paper consider a two-fluid model consisting of a core region of suspension of all the erythrocytes (particles) in plasma (fluid) assumed to be a particle-fluid mixture and a peripheral layer of cell-free plasma (Newtonian fluid), has been proposed to represent blood flow in small diameter tubes with effects of magnetic. The analytical results obtained in the proposed model for effective...

A Symmetry Particle Method towards Implicit Non-Newtonian Fluids

In this paper, a symmetry particle method, the smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPHs) method, is extended to deal with non-Newtonian fluids. First, the viscous liquid is modeled by a non-Newtonian fluid flow and the variable viscosity under shear stress is determined by the Carreau-Yasuda model. Then a pressure correction method is proposed, by correcting density error with individual stiffness...

Analysis of Transient Rivlin-Ericksen Fluid and Irreversibility of Exothermic Reactive Hydromagnetic Variable Viscosity

This study analyzes the unsteady Rivlin-Ericksen fluid and irreversibility of exponentially temperature dependent variable viscosity of hydromagnetic two-step exothermic chemical reactive flow along the channel axis with walls convective cooling. The non-Newtonian Hele-Shaw flow of Rivlin-Erickson fluid is driven by bimolecular chemical kinetic and unvarying pressure gradient. The reactive flui...

Particle-based viscoplastic fluid/solid simulation

Simulations of viscoplastic materials are traditionally governed by continuum mechanics. The viscous behavior is typically modeled as an internal force, defined by diverse quantities. This work introduces a fluid model to simulate the viscoplastic effect of solid materials, such as plastic, wax, clay and polymer. Our method consists in modeling a solid object through a non-Newtonian fluid with ...

Effects of non-newtonian properties of blood flow on magnetic nanoparticle targeted drug delivery

Objective(s): One applications of nanotechnology is in the area of medicine which is called nanomedicine. Primary instruments in nanomedicine can help us to detect diseases and used for drug delivery to inaccessible areas of human tissues. An important issue in simulating the motion of nanoparticles is modeling blood flow as a Newtonian or non-Newtonian fluid. Sometimes blood flow is simulated ...
